2008 F 450 CB Installation ideas ?

I have an 08 F 450 and im trying to find a place to mount a full size Cobra 29NW CB . Does anybody have any ideas ? The only place I can see is the overhead console but im not sure it will fit and also not sure how to remove it to find out . It almost looks like the top storage bin is made to inlarge by cutting on a premolded line . I have the overhead console with the sunglass holder and the letter / tickit holder with the large overhead bin (no sunroof) . Does anyone know if this will work and how to take the console down ?

Thanks...

I have an 08 F-350 and I have a Cobra 25 under my steering column. I cut out the plastic cover and bolted the mount to the plastic shroud around the column. I then just used some black upholstery fabric and put around the cb itself. It is low and out of the way and still at easy reach under the column. Or you can always do like others I have seen and just throw it in the center cut out in the dash with some velcro- . Hope this helps and if you want to see a pic just email me at campbellcarriers@bellsouth.net and I will snap one asap.

CB location

I have a full size radio, I mounted in sideways on the floor, by my right knee. I do not notice it being there and a person can still sit in the middle seat.

On my 06 F-350, I took out the drink holder and the Cobra 29 Harley Edition slid in, you do have to trim about a 1/4 of plastic that is behind the facia. I'll try to get some pics of it if I ever get home.......

Make two 3"x8" plates, unbolt the 4 bolts holding the center console/or seat (not the cross braces that bolt down but the seats), pull off the console, bolt in the plates, slide the console back an inch or two, use self tapping screws and screw the console back down. That should give you enough room to install a cb & used your cup holders. Don't get too greedy when you side the console back because the front tray will hit the brackets when you screw in down and pop out the front of the console (oops). I got a Galaxy to fit with room to spare.

I cut out a section under my steering column Same size as face of cb and built a new mount that the ears of the bracket are twice as long as the original mount. put the mount on upside down on the cb and have the cb sticking out of the hole I cut about a inch and a half . Its easy to get to and no one can see it if they are peaking in the windows (theifs) and will not hit your knees. Then I just loop the mic over the column and dont have to drill any holes in the dash for a cb mic holder or have it hanging from my mirror

I stuck my Stryker SR440-HP in the dashboard tray and ran power cabling to the fuse box.
