Tapping sound

I have an intermittent light tapping and whirring sound coming from a small box just below and to the left of the glovebox. Looks like a small plastic box with an electrical connector attached. Any ideas what it is and a fix?

I think my father-n-laws truck is doing the same thing. To me it seems like its coming from behind the fold down cupholder or a lil to the right of that. It really doesnt change much whether your on bumpy or smooth roads. I know its very annoying. I too would like to know if anyone had/has the problem with any sort of fix or idea what it could be.

That's right, it's to the right of the fold down cup holder. It seems to come and go, not affected by bumps or anything. I heard it 2 days ago, then once about a week before that. One day it will probably start and not stop until it's fixed. We're going on a week long camping trip to N. Ga and I'll bet it does it the whole time we're gone, lol.

Ok, looks like Reighnman did a short writeup Driver side blend door motor

I also found this 2008 F250: the blend door actuator on the RH (passanger) side..airbag - JustAnswer

Looks like it can be done without removing the dash.
