usb port

i have a j3 08 and only have the 1/8 auto connection on the lower right part of the center dash peace. im looking to get the one with the usb port on it. i will only be using it to charge my phone.

can anyone tell me if that peace will plug into were the auto plugs into or is it on a different harness..can someone tell me the part number for that peace

The USB port is part of Sync. I suppose you could get the panel with the port socket (the actual port is part of the Sync wiring harness) then rig up a way to mount a USB cable/socket in it and use one of the USB car chargers to send power to it.

Or just do it the easy way and plug one of these NEW UNIVERSAL MINI USB CAR AUTO CHARGER ADAPTER 2.1 AMP - eBay (item 300525374898 end time Feb-14-11 16:40:13 PST) into your power port and charge your phone.

The above will probably be the best way if you are just needing a usb for your phone. The SYNC usb port is connected to to the SYNC module in the passenger side of the dash. It connects to the SYNC module using a male usb mini b connection. If you really want to have the usb on the dash you will have to...
Get the OEM dash piece
Get the OEM usb cable
Get a female usb mini b to 12v adapter.

thanks..i am using a 12v cig adapter now i just wanted to loose some of the BS i have sticking out of my dash
