first of all thats a good choice of a radio. know a couple people that have it and they love it.
i have mine mounted to the front of my center console, works for me but definately isnt hidden. its convient to play with the squelch and channel while driving without looking at it. im not so sure that the cup holder placement would be deep enough? on my truck the heater tubs are behind it. not sure how yours is set up. just sayin. |

thanks, i just remembered that i have a picture of behind my dash so i will look at the depth behind it...i was also thinking about a radio with a detachable faceplace so that i can mount it in my center console and put the box under my seat...what do you think about the Midland 79-290 CB Radio with Detachable Face, its about $100 more, but the detachable face would allow me more flexability.

yeah, that looks like a pretty nice radio. i havent seen that one yet. i have a uniden right now and it works great, but i would rather have a cobra. im looking at getting the cobra with the bluetooth. that radio your looking at also looks like it has a smaller box than mine so it should be easier to mount.
have you bought the componets yet? antenna(s), bracket(s), wiring? i bought all my stuff, radio and everything at my local cb shop, and i later found all that stuff for half the price at truck stops and on ebay. make sure you do your research first so you save money. i got screwed but i ended up with a nice set up. im running dual 4ft whips (make sure you put springs on them!!!) |

ya i like how it looks, whats your input on midlands? i think they are pretty good from what i hear but idk, i have not bought them yet, i am going to be running 3ft dual antennas, the kit comes with whips but idk if i want to run them because im going to mount them somewhat low in my bed that way they only stick up about 6 inches above my cab. i might put the whips and mount them in almost the bottom of my bed that way when i hit them on something low they still whip back.

not to change the topic of the thread, but did you ever get your truck fixed?

its cool, i actually get it back tomorrow at around 2pm...so happy lol
i think i might just get the cobra and make it work to fit in cup holders or something...unless i find a detachable faceplate, the midland is for security situations so i dont know if it will work as a separate unit connected to the main box. |

ill probably end up going with a cobra, right now im stuck between the 29 ltd blk, the 29 army edition, and the 50th edition...

I've heard alot of good things about that 50th edition. Midland are cheaper radios but they seem pretty nice. I had one and it worked great till it got stolen. The only question I have about mounting the antennas in the bed is will that affect the signal strength with the antenna being surrounded by metal? I'm not sure. I have mine on the bedrail behind the cab and it does fine there but they stick up a couple feet above the cab. Which means I have to have springs.
