Add overhead console?

I just purchased a 2010 F-250 in XLT trim. A good deal of options on this rig, but one that's missing that I think i would like is an overhead console.

If I can get my hands on one, is this something I can add easily enough? Are the mounts in place in my rig already?

Just wondering if this is even possible and if so, how complex.

I just did mine May1..found a take out on ebay..it is a 2 piece factory item. I made a cardbaord template of the top piece to cut the hole in the headliner, carefully located the center and then started cutting.

The holes/slots are present in the roof frame and that piece (the black upper section) dropped right in thru the hole I cut and snapped into the roof.

The interior piece just snapped into that piece and all done..sorry didn't take pics but it was real easy

Thanks for the reply. Do you happen to have a link to the ebay sale where there might be a picute of the unit or something? I'm not sure what you mean when you say the "black upper section droppped right in". Did you just cut a few holes in the headliner, or ??

It was one hole in a matching shape about 12"L x 10"w...the upper section, made of a black plastic has a flange around the top edge where it sets against the roof...you have to cut the headliner so that the main body drops down thru the hole you cut..then the bottom interior colored piece snaps onto that one and hides the hole...I just typed "superduty overhead console" in and it came right up...just checked and there are a couple of them on there for the 08-10's for 75.00...when you look at the pictures you will be able to see the 2 pieces I'm talking about

I'm looking to do this mod as well...the new headliner I want to get has the cutout so it would be perfect.

Does the console screw into those cross beams?

The 08-10 overhead console fits in the 99-07s?

No it just pushes up and clips in... there is a locating pin sticking up at the top in the front of mounting piece (black section) of the console and then the little silver clips you see in the pics just snap into the roof braces...

the 99-07 take a different model...most of those come with a computer to give you various read outs...check the other forums for info on them, but the same eBay search applies and comes up with the variety of colors they come in.i

I have an of f-350 and the previous owner had something mounted where the overhead console should go. I was needing something to cover the four mounting holes. I bought a take out overhead console out of an 08 on Ebay and was wanting to try to install it into the 2006. Does anyone know if there are existing mounting locations in the roof structure or not?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but why are people taking those consoles off and selling them? Is there some type of aftermarket device that goes in it's place?
