How to make upfitter switch work with no key
Does anyone know if you can make the upfitter switches work when there is no key in the ignition? I would like to wire some things up that I want to work when the truck is off.

Your going to have to find the power in wire and run a fused wire from the battery to that wire.

Take out relay # 305 in fuse panel in dash. Take short piece of wire and crimp a male non insulated spade connector on each end of wire. Insert one end in the opening for the # 87 post on the relay and the other on in the opening for the # 30 post on relay

It would be nice to not have to turn the key on to use the switches. Just wondering, Does relay #305 only control the upfitter switches? I found no relay #305. I found a relay in location 48 in the pass. kick panel but, nothing calling it #305... Last edited by ol38y; 06-10-2010 at 02:22 PM. |

The 08 upfitters don't use a control relay like the 05-07's, they get power from the smart junction box so you would have to cut the power wire and add a new wire with a fuse to a full time 12v source. It looks like it is the solid green wire feeding the upfitter switches.
Here's the upfitter diagrams, just scroll down for the 2008 diagram: https://www.fleet.ford.com/TRUCKBBAS/non-html/Q117.pdf Last edited by GregsSD; 06-22-2010 at 09:21 PM. |
