better mount for SCT Live Wire

I have an SCT livewire for my 08, and am looking for a better mount than the winshield mount that came with it. Has anybody tried to take an edge dashpod and mount the livewire to the outside of it (2 sided tape?)? Or does anyone know of a different mount for the livewire? Any help is appreciated.

Paul

I couldn't believe your timing with the question! I went ahead and purchased the Edge Dash Pod after not finding any decent dimensions on either the Edge or the Pod. What could go wrong? They must be close to the same size, right? It arrived last night...

WRONG - the SCT dwarfs the Pod by 3/4" on each side and about 1/2" in height. I emailed for an RMA number last night. I'll probably have to pay a re-stocking fee but better than eating the entire price!

In other words, I saved you the trouble - DON'T DO IT!

If it weren't so COLD (-5 wind chill) out, I'd get the SCT and take some pictures before I send the Pod back. Even stuck to the front, I think it would really look "Mickey Mouse"!

Mount I used for my Spartan DashDaq

Paul, I'm not familiar with the SCT Livewire but I came up with a different mount for my Spartan DashDaq. Let me know if you want some more pictures, info or part numbers. It works great, does not wobble or vibrate and was easy to install. I took a sequence of install pictures I can post if anyone is interested. What do you think?

Josh

I used the edge pod and just used some super adhesive velcro to stick the SCT to the pod.. Works good!

Cool Ham Radio info...

We used to use a company called "Ram Mounts" - when I searched, I came up with "Panavise". Same stuff - not sure if they bought out Ram or what but here you go:

PanaVise Products, Inc.

Edit: Woah, how about this one?

I have been wondering this myself. I thought about going to the custom stereo shop or possibly Doing the edge mod like above. I also saw someone that made a A piller for the sct to fit in. although they wanted 125 for it.

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm leaning towards the edge pod. Does it hide the wire well? Hard to tell from the picture. All in all, I think that will be the cleanest look. Thanks again for the input.
