High Boost, Low Power

Need Help!

I bought a 2008 6.4 4x4, long bed in Sept 08. The truck has 16,600 miles on it and has rarley given trouble until now. I took it on a 3,000 mile trip. When I left, the truck was running great. On the way back, the boost was running around 25-30 psi while pulling a 7x16 enclosed trailer loaded with our hunting gear. My fuel mileage dropped to about 9mpg and the truck felt like it has a loss of power. Also, after driving at highway speeds, exiting of the interstate and starting again, the truck will not "go" when I step on the gas pedal (not in regen)! Now the boost gauge is almost always pulling 20 - 35 lbs of boost with no load.

I have had it to the dealer with no luck! The SM tells me to not worry about the boost gauge "they all do that" and also said he contacted a Ford engineer who said that "it is typical for a diesel to lose power like that". I know neither one of these are correct.

The truck is stock woth no mods, any similar problems or possible solutions?

I would ask to talk to the Ford field service engineer himself. They won't give you the number most likely, but will have him call you. Tell him your concerns and see what he does have to say. Your dealer may be a so perhaps try a different dealer. I had a dealer that was worthless, and then I switched to one that was closer, and had a dedicated truck shop so they really know what they are talking about.

Have them check out your dpf...might be getting clogged.

Spartanize it and drop the DPF

Was it raining or humid? If so have them do the TSB for the lack of power / white smoke on mod to heavy tip in after driving 20+ mins.

Mine is scheduled for next Tuesday for this fix.

It did happen when it was raining but it has happened a few times during dry weather!
