Question EGR Valve and Elbow removal and replacement

Check engine light, P0404 and P1335 codes. Bought the new EGR valve and am ready to replace it. I am planning to remove the whole elbow so I can clean that out while I am working on it. I understand getting the valve out of the elbow is a tough row to hoe, but I am more concerned about getting it back on there correctly when I am done.
My EGR valve did not come with any gaskets. Also, do I need to use a gasket on the elbow where it connects to the engine and/or where it connects to the vertical EGR cooler? Should I use some gasket/sealant instead of a gasket? No gaskets at all?

I have read that there is no gasket. It is a very, very tight fit and the dealer uses a special tool to remove the EGR valve but some have done it. If you pry on the bolt ear it is subject to break off.
I have an idea that would be to drill and tap a hole in the center of the top of the valve and use a slide hammer on it. And lots of PB Blaster.
