That there looks to be the electrical connector for your fan. Should have a red locking tab on it, but most likely it's been broken off. It'll plug into the electrical connector at the top rear of the fan shroud. Without this you have no cooling fan operation. Not sure if this being unplugged will set a code or a check engine light....but it might when pcm checks fan operation.
