Looking at buying a 08 f450 with 81K

This is what the seller told me was wrong with the motor.

"Engine does not turn over. It just wouldn't start one day and our mechanic could not find the fault code so we are selling it with that understanding that the engine does not work. Even with a jump it does not try to start and even shorting the starter leads it does not turn over"

Anyone know what this is?

not sure anyone could ""know what that is"" over the internet ?

locked /bad starter
locked motor

are 2 things that come to mind since they say they tried to turn power the starter directly

I don't know if this is relevant but here's what happened to me.

I'm running a DPF-R 4.0 plus and using an Edge Insight CTS to monitor. One day I was running errands and moved my truck from a parking lot to a loading dock, which took about 20 seconds of run time. After loading my truck and getting back in it wouldn't start. Sounded just like bad batteries. Clicking and grinding but the motor wouldn't turn over. One of the dock guys tried to jump me but nothing. I thought I was going to have to call AAA but then had a thought. I checked the codes with the Insight and it showed a P1000 code. Can't remember what that code meant but I cleared it and the truck started right up. I didn't think an error code would make an engine act like that but I learned better.

Moral of the story see if you can get get your hands on an ODBII reader and check the codes yourself.
