Turbos Bad????

Alright, intercooler pipe was taken off for a belt change. Sludge with the consistency of tapioca pudding was in the intercooler pipe, is this bad turbos? It seems to spool up just fine, no smoke (that I can tell) coming from the exhause. May be loosing just a slight amount of coolant (possibly 1" down in the reservoir) but may be not. My boost is acting normal for day to day driving. I never get on it and have my boost defuel at 26psi.

If it is turbos, I am thinking of getting a used set off of a 2010 w/23K miles.

Nope that is normal. Its oil from the CCV. The only way to take care of it is do a ccv mod (either to the atmosphere or to a catch can).

Do you have a pic. Could just be from your ccv and egr unless its real bad. I had my turbos replaced when they did my head gaskets at ford. Said they were leaking internally they felt fine to me. Still think I got ripped off

I don't know how much was in there, my mechanic told me about it. I wish I would have had him take a picture of it.

Is there any way to check the turbos? Like I said no smoke out of the exhaust or anything.

Went back to mechanic today, because of the hissing/air leak sound. It is coming from my turbos. He pulled the cold side intercooler pipe and the antifreeze was definitely in there. I guess that means new turbos for me

Can anyone come up with a reason there would be some coolant in my cold side IC pipe????

I cant. Oil is normal in the cold side pipe. I have no idea how coolant would get there. I would make sure your turbos are bad before you replace them.

I agree!!! I am pretty sure the up pipe needs replaced, that alone is $2300 at the dealer. I really don't want to spend another $3000 to replace turbos that don't need it.

How can I tell if they are bad????

Is your boost normal? Are you losing oil thru the tail pipe? Are they making any noise? What is their reasoning telling you that your turbos are bad because you have coolant in the cold side pipe? That doesn't make any sense. Coolant doesn't even run thru the turbos.
