6.4 Turbo help

Have a 2008 6.4 which was run stock for the first 85,000. Did a DPF and Cat delete with tuner and have since put around 30K on the truck. Have loved the advanteges in economy and power. Today with no warning the truck started to skip when execlerating and blowing white smoke like crazy. Drove it home only about 5 miles. Started looking around and noticed that when I cut her off, the usual turbo wine that I hear through tail pipe is completely gone. Pretty sure that turbo is not turning but that is the extent of my knowledge. Any thought, please chime in. My ford dealer is 30 miles away, and I assume driving to him is a bad option.

Thanks,

Ok, so truck idles and ramps up great with no problems until you try and accelerate under load. My guess is that is when turbo tries to kick on. Is there a way to effectively turn off the turbo??

Dude seriously don't do that.

If you can tow it to the dealer.

Is it worth maybe having part blew through the engine

Worth posting for anyone else who might find themselves in the same boat.

My neighbor, a retired diesel mechanic, said it was the EGR valve. Said that the turbo wasn't running because the stuck EGR valve wouldn't let the RPM's get high enough. So we fired the truck up and floored it as sure enough, as soon as the RPM's got up, the turbo started screeming.

Long story short, took out the EGR entire housing and there was an incredible amount of charcoal looking stuff in there. It was dry and chunks all around the part of the valve that moves. Two cans of carb cleaner later, my truck runs like a champ. Fixed her for less than $10. Hope this helps others.
