What are up pipes?
I have soot on my hood

They are pipes that run from the exhaust manifolds and connect to the back of the turbo. Not sure if they will cause soot on the hood. Usually they blow out at the bellows and you will see soot on the firewall.

08 F350 cc/sb 4X4

Manifold leak? That would cause soot on your hood?
