Blue smoke

Was going down the road about 60 when looked back
and could see blue smoke behind the truck. It quit
after about a mile. Truck didnt seem to run any
different, had the cruise set. Couldnt tell if from the
exhaust or coming from the motor. Didnt know if
any other have noticed this from there 6.4

I have had the same thing happen to my truck three times. The first time I freaked out and pulled over, I noticed my truck was in Regen and took it to the dealer. they advised me it will do this while in regen to clean out the DPF. I have watched it twice since then, the last time I had just pulled out of the car wash and was driving down the road when I realized I couldnt see anyone behind me. I sped up and it continued for almost a block. Asked the diesel tech and he stated they will do this sometimes while in regen.
Hope he is right, but I havent noticed any problems and is running good.

I've said it before and will say it again Blue means oil is burning and there should be no oil in your exhaust system.

I have noticed a real light colored smoke from our 550. It seems to do it after regen. I'm not sure if it is connected or if it's just from the idling after regen.

I have a 250 with 11,000 miles on it and I've noticed on 3 occasions thick, dark smoke billowing out behind me. It quit after a minute or two on all occasions. I didn't notice any difference in perfomance while it was happening. It sure looked bad and I'm sure anybody who saw me thought the engine was blowing up. I know I sure wondered the first time. I have no complaints about the truck other than I wish it got just a little better mileage. I've been getting 11 - 14 depending on the driving conditions.

Just had this to happen to me today. As I was leaving work truck everything was normal. After traveling about two miles, I happened to look back and saw smoke coming from my truck. I came up on a red light and the smoke stopped but when I took off from the light it started again. It lasted for about another mile and just stopped. Freaked me out. Although truck was in regen mode, this hasn't happened before. Hopefully this is not a sign of worst things to come.
