New here, & need help, ton of white smoke & power loss & stall

Yesterday my truck started blowing a ton of white smoke, lost power, was chugging and died, started up again but not running well at all, drove it straight to ford about 2 blocks, they said it could be EGR pump? I was looking on line at EGR delete kits??? any thoughts would be great!!

Chances are that you EGR cooler is ruptured then. Does it constantly smoke? Does it smell like coolant from the exhaust?

You could get an EGR delete kit but you'll also need a tuner and a dpf delete as well. I don't think the EGR can be deleted without also deleting the dpf. Unless there are certain tunes I'm unaware of.

Thanks for the info. Just trying to figure out if thats what I should do? How often do the EGR pumps go? I like my truck and plan on keeping it for a long while, any other things that I might need to keep an eye on or change?

There's no pump. It's just a valve and a couple coolers. The failures aren't as common as the 6litre but they do happen. Deleting the dpf and EGR systems are a good idea if you plan on keeping it for a long time. Most of the issues arise from these 2 components with fuel system issues up there as well. Draining the water separator at least monthly and using good quality fuel are very important as well.

Forgot to mention the cooling system. If you plan on keeping the ford gold coolant then make sure you monitor the nitrate levels. I believe they have to be above 800ppm to work properly. Otherwise flush and put in a nitrate free ec-1 rated coolant.
