What to watch out for?

hey everyone im new to the 6.4 powerstrokes. I had a 6.0 and well it did what most 6.0s do and would rather sell it than spend 8 grand to fix it and get something newer aso i am looking at the 6.4's. I just need to know what to watch out for with these motors. im gonna tune the truck most likely start out with sct until i save up for spartan tuning. im not gonna run another hot tune like i did with my 6.0 ill probablu use the spartan 275 tune after i delete the dpf and egr as well as get a straight pipe exhaust. Any suggestions?

If you are gonna run mild tunes then DPF & EGR delete and a cold air intake will wake your 6.4 up. As far as what to watch out for, check the maintenance records and recalls repairs of your truck. Follow a strict oil and fuel filter change regimen and she'll run like a top. Many people have switched to synthetic lubricants in the diffs, added a coolant filter, and oil bypasses just to further ensure the longevity of their rides. There's lots of write-ups on here and check out General Modifications as well!!

ok cool and do u think spartan is the best tuning or should i go with H&S tuning ive heard good things about both. I just have seen alot more 6.4's with spartan. I raced a 6.4 with H&S tuning when i had cutom sct tuning on my 6.0 and he kicked my *** lol.
