coldstart? It's not even cold?

New truck with only 1'200km's. It's -9 C out with light snow. Excited to take family for first ride in new truck that I just brought home. Starts fine in driveway... put it in reverse but NO GO ! RPM's won't go past 1300? Managed to idle it into my garage but what the heck is goin' on? I read that it has to have more than 1/4 tank of fuel to work properly in cold weather. Surely a new truck can't be that finiky can it? What's going on?

I don't know anything about the new 6.4's, but somthing isn't right and i doubt very much it has to do with the amount of fuel in your tank. Could be a throttle position sensor Get it to the garage since its under warrenty.

If it has the latest flash in it, ford has put a limit on throttle until a desired amount of temp is in the engine.

problem solved - well sort of...

I'm convinced it has to do with the temperature. I managed to idle the truck into my garage to warm up. It started fine. I then filled it up as per the owners manual and it has been outside starting fine in cold temps ever since. It clearly states that the wax in the fuel will gel in sub-zero temps. It then goes on to state that the by-pass pump won't work below 1/4 tank. Strange that we can put a man on the moon but can't start a Ford below 1/4 tank when it is -9C?

I live in Edmonton, AB, Canada, the truck has to be plugged in at -5. Also make sure you are not getting any more than 5% BioDiesel. Ford diesel engines can't handle it. I have had trucks come in where the primary fuel filter looked like it was packed with magarine.
