CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

Got a check engine light this morning on the way to work. Truck operates fine though. Called and have a appointment tuesday to find out what is up. Anybody else had the light go on before?

mine came on this weekend on a trip to Northern MI. i read the manual, checked the gas cap and filled up. after 3 stop/starts it cleared. i think it was either a lose gas cap or a botched start. i short started it and it didnt turn over. needed 2 more attempts top start. ill keep an eye on it but no other problems and it ran fine.

Mine ended up being a cracked engine shroud of some sort. Not sure what yet. Part just got in and being replaced tomorrow.

That's what they are telling me. I thought that seemed odd also. How would the computer know that. Should be picking it up in a couple of hours. The light was on for a couple of days and then I did a system check and it went away.

Got an engine light with a good-running engine, and the dealer said that a sensor was sending unexpected signals, which by default pops the light. Not error signals, but signals the computer doesn't know what to do with. It's apparently a known issue and isn't a defective sensor per se. It's more of a programming problem to work around an unhappy surprise in the sensor design. So I was told to disregard (sort of) if it reappears UNLESS the engine is presenting some odd behavior. They will reflash it with a fix when it's available.

Redstroker,
If you're asking me, no. No codes, no equipment, no knowledge. All I have is a checkbook.
