6.4 lost power

I have an 08 6.4 F-250 that lost power suddenly. It's making a blap blap blap sound almost like a loud exhaust leak from engine compartment. The truck is not leaking or smoking at all. Dealer recommends a new engine for $15K but I just find it hard to believe the motor's gone with no smoke, leaks on water in oil. I AM NOT A MECHANIC but do have a little common sense. When i rev the truck up it won't go above 1500 rpm's. I used a neighbor's scanner and retrieved a code of P0306 which is misfire on #6 cylinder. Could this be electrical? I'm at a loss so any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Find a new dealer first. Or someone who knows 6.4s.
Where are you at?

my buddy had the same thing, he had a broken valve spring, it sound like a bad exhaust leak but sound coming out of the air intake, look into that first, dont change the engine because it was somthing small and fixable

I'm hoping not to have to replace the engine! On the other hand, it's hard having it towed all over the place. I have someone coming tothe house today to look/listen to it. Just want a 2nd opinion before I spend 12-15K for an engine.

don't buy an engine! that dealer doesn't want to fix it so go somewhere else. 12-15k is insane!

I'm thinking of towing it to another place where they only work on fords. Apparently, the owner used to work at a dealer but he comes highly recommended and has a good score on Angie's list. It's worth a try. Just tired of towing my truck all over the place!

Call Rudys diesel performance. They are one of the best places you can take your truck and they are in NC!
