Up Pipe Replacement

MIL came on last week so I brought it to the dealer for diagnostics. Found the right side turbo up pipe cracked, which coincides with the symptoms; exhaust smell, especially when regenerating, turbo lag and change in exhaust sound (I'm getting a second opinion tomorrow). Ford dealer wants $1600 for single pipe replacement, which includes tranny removal. Should I go ahead and replace the other pipes and the EDOC while the tranny is out, or is this a waste of money. Is there anything else I should have done while he's in there?

Thanks

Check out rudys diesel performance. They have a heavy duty replacement up pipe with heavy duty bellows that are stronger than the factory.

Looking at them now, they look good. I'm assuming that they are 6.0 up pipes remanufactured to fit the 6.4 manifold? Bolt on with the EGR port?

Item #: 64-RDP-UPPIPES $675.

or

Item #: WUPPIPES $1099......ouch for stainless....

ya you can get the heavy duty 6.4 up pipes or you can get the 6.0 up pipes but then you need the 6.0 exhaust manifolds.

Just got off the phone with Rudy's. The 64-RDP-UPPIPES for $675 are custom-built for either 6.4 or 6.0 manifolds for $599, nothing in stock. He did say they would be out the door in a day. I have the tranny out and stock pipes available today, so I'm going to replace both the pipes with stock Ford parts: 6K854*A and B. Down pipe looks fine.

Thanks for the reply

Jay

It's leaking just below the right bellows.
These up pipes look like they're in pretty good shape with only 80K on them. I am replacing both pipes just to be safe.
