Looking for some advice, please
I purchased a 2008 F250 6.4L with 117,000 miles on it one week ago. This is my first Ford product ever. I have already put 1,000 miles on it and love the truck so far. I do have 2 concerns that hopefully someone can help me with.
1. Occasionally I get a whiff of what smells like diesel exhaust in the cab. Usually this is when I am driving 5 to 10 miles per hour and have the windows down, although once I had the windows up with just the ventilation fan running ( A/C was not turned on). The truck runs fine and the check engine light does not come on, nor are there any warnings displayed. All the gauges read normal as well. I was just wondering if this was normal with these trucks?
2. Fuel consumption. My truck is the Supercab 4x4 longbox model with the automatic transmission and I am not carrying anything in the bed or towing anything. The best I can get around town is only 14.8mpg. My last diesel was a 2006 Dodge 2500 with a manual transmission and I was averaging 21mpg. Is it normal for these trucks to consume this much fuel?
Any help with these concerns would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Rod
