Acceleration issue
I just bought (today) a 2008 Ford fx4 F250 4X4 6.4 liter on drive home ran cruise control most of the way. Felt a few small sputters on interstate. Made it back into my city, first stop light went to take off nothing while pushing pedal to floor. Gradually gained acceleration. Took off from second light just sat there for several seconds. Got home idiels fine, revs up fine in park or neutral. Shut off came back out took for drive did fine first mile then hesitation and not accelerating. Buddy sai his older truck did same thing and it was fuel peddle? Any help would be appreciated.
Update took to Ford Dealership, #6 injector bad, oil cooler bad, and turbo issues. Bought truck yesterday, $3900.00 to fix - $700.00 warranty will cover or split transport fee back to Tx and cancel deal. Easy decision truck is going back to TX. Last edited by Rick M; 06-13-2012 at 10:55 AM. |

I don't have an answer but I had the same problem - same truck. Drive down the interstate two hours pulling a load. Exit on a ramp, coast to the top, stop, check traffic, then accelerate. Reved Up Nothing else. 5 mph which gradually built to 20 mph. Louder than normal whistling noise - Fan? Turbo? Who knows?
Fantastic dealer (Harrisonville MO) not where I bought the truck worked and worked and looked and looked for 4-5 months. Never got paid under warranty because there was never any warranty work done. Dealer probably put 300+ miles on the truck trying to replicate issue. Used the dealer owner's horse trailer to try to replicate. I asked the dealer to file a claim under a lemon law or some such thing. But they stated that since I had had a full frontal impact with a deer and major damage that Ford would argue that was the case and we would argue forever. Dealer stated that as long as they were willing to find the problem I was better off that way. In the end, I gave up and the the dealership made me an offer on trading the truck for a 2010 F350 that while costing me money was more than fair for the miles I had driven and that I moved up 2 model years plus the one ton. So no help but at least you know someone else had this problem. |

Oil cooler was/is going to be the big cost that's not covered under warranty. Have oil in radiator from it. So I decided after talking to dealer to send back and cancel deal. Out aroun $500.00 from trip and diagnostics cost.
