2008 6.4 Overboosting/Loss of power
I have a 2008 F250 with a Spartan with KEM tunes, intake, exhaust. In the last week it has started boosting really high and there is a loss of power. I can easily hit 50+ lbs of boost at mild acceleration. Does anyone have any ideas?

stuck VNT section on the high pressure turbo

How do I fix that?

Does anyone else have any input on this? Truck was in the body shop for a while so I didn't have a chance to mess with it but I still need to fix it. I've also heard it could be a sensor. The VGT linkage moves freely when the truck is off.

Were you able to pull a code?

I pulled P2263 and P2563

Both codes have to do with turbo over boost..and turbo sensor....Make sure your air filter is clean, dirty one will cause high boost.

I have been fighting with the 2263 also. It says turbo overboost, but I will throw it when I am cruising. I replace the Exhaust backpressure sensor which is the sensor you have to replace and it did it once again right after I installed the sensor. I have not seen it since and it has been about 400 miles. The other thing could be the VGT like mentioned, or a leak in your air intake somewhere, or a exhaust leak.
I would replace the sensor, that is what I believe was wrong with mine. Some guys say they pull the line off that the sensor is connected to and clean it. I think that is why mine gave me a CEL again, because I did not clean it. I know it is fixed because I could not get the 2263 to clear and now it is fine. The sensor was $86 from ford. The sensor is located on the driver side in the back on top of the valve cover. It is brass and connected to a siver tube at the bottom and an electrical plug on the top. If you look straight back from the middle of your battery you will see it no problem. Took 3 minutes to replace it. Good luck. |

When this was happening did you have intermittent power during hard acceleration? Mine seems to be creating a lot of boost at low RPMS ever since I blew my silicone boot off the hot side of the intercooler. The power seems to pulsate during hard acceleration now? I am runing H&S on a mild setting.
