Hello, I am new to the 6.4 diesel and to this forum I bought a 2008 F250 3 weeks ago. The truck had 67000 miles on it at purchase. After I purchased the truck I had it serviced, oil change, fuel filters, transmission flush/fluid. I drove the truck for 13 days after it being serviced. While driving the truck approximately 2 miles I heard a noise like a belt broke, then all of a sudden the truck shut down. Pulled code POO87 fuel preesure to low. Took the truck to the shop, they first advised me that the problem was the low pressure fuel pump. After replacing the low pressure pump, the truck still will not start. Techs tell me they think it is the HPFP, and if it has water in it then it's customer pay. Anyone have any ideas or anyone ever had this problem? Thanks for you time.

There have been a few dead HPFPs that were caused by water in the fuel. This is one reason it is imperative that you use the FD4617 Motorcraft fuel filters. I also recommend saving every receipt after you fuel up. If you get a load of water from the fuel station you can generally go after them for the cost of your repairs.
Did a reputable shop service your truck before it failed? |

Yes, I used the same familly mechanic that we've used the past 12 years. Thanks for your comments, I will keep you posted.
