rough idle & white smoke

2008 f350 6.4

If i let it idle for over 5min, it idles rough and sounds loud like an old dodge.

sometimes when it does this it will start to blow white smoke.

Ck eng light is on, but i havent checked the codes

If i turn it off and start it back up, it goes away.

If i try to drive while it does this, it sputters bad.

i used soime diesel trat for 100 gallons in my stock tank. i did this every 500 miles and it never happened again. I still do it with my truck today, but now i have a dodge, got tired of working on the ford. i do miss the power and mileage though
