Crankshaft thrust bearings sitting in oil pan
So my knocking issue turned out to be pretty bad. after pulling the motor and removing the oil pan I found all this sitting in the bottom. It appears to be the thrust bearing, a lot of debre, and can anyone tell me what the steel retaining ring is in the pic? Its about 2" in diameter

I just had something like this happen with my truck that has 20,000 miles on it last Wednesday. Got on it hard and heard a knock then blew blue smoke for bout 2 min then all was fine. I drove the truck about 150 miles after heard the noise the first time, then driving home from work the truck stared the knock and then something popped and the truck coasted to a stop and dumped all the oil out of the passenger side of the oil pan. I can see where something hit the oil pan from the inside and bulged it outward. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to get my motor replaced.
