Weird oil pan crack???

Ok so this one is a weird one.....

I noticed my 2008 F450 start into leak huge amounts of oil in my parking spot at my shop (motorcycle shop.. i don't work on diesel trucks).

I had it towed to my mechanic..

After a few hours I get a phone call from him and he is confused by the oil leak.
Its clear as day that I have a semi circle crack in the oilpan that the oil is gushing out of, what is strange is that there is no impact on the pan and I really didn't hit anything as far as I can remeber.

Has anyone heard about this happening? My mechanic is confused as hell on this one.
Apparently this is a cab off job so is there anything else I should do while the cab is off?

can't help you pout with the cab but if you have the money do a egr delete. You can do this with the cab on but its a lot easier with it off so may as well just do it

Already ordered it!
If im in it for $4k worth of labor I might as well spend the little extra and do the EGR delete.

My mechanic was telling me that because I have the H&S shutting off my EGR anyways it wasn't really necessary.
I heard that its a $500 fine if you get caught without the EGR.. I figure I would rather pay a $500 fine than have to pay another $4k repair bill when they go.

Sucks 6 months of me owning it and i'm already into huge repairs!

even tho your h&s is shutting off the egg valve down the road the coolers can leak still causing problems so its good that you went ahead and ordered it
