Angry No power

My 08 6.4 f450 will not pull a hill, where my 6.0 would do 60 mph the 6.4 will only do 35 mph. I get 7 mpg empty and 6 to 7 loaded. they said it was a break in mileage. They don't know why it won't pull a hill. Did anyone ells have this problem?

I have a C/C 8' box 4x4 f-250. Just did my first pull about 2.5 to 3.0 hours of driving pulling a 30' Camper that weights 10,000 lbs my fuel mileage was right at 9.5 to 10.0 mpg doing 75mph, As far as power, for a bone stock diesel. I had no power loss what so ever.

I also am not happy with neither the mpg's or the power. Pulled my MasterCraft to Lake Powell a couple of weeks ago. 9 mpg's going and 7 mpg's coming home and it would not hold cruise at 65 mph. Had to fill up in Page to come home to Flagstaff. Just driving around town since I last filled up four days ago the computer shows 8.3 mpg; the fuel guage is almost down to 3/4 and I have driven less than 65 miles.

Even though I have modified this new truck to the same configuration as my 2000 7.3 (lift/tires) the '08 8 city/12 highway is a joke compared to the '00 12 city/18 highway. And don't even get me started on the lack of power; my 2000 did the Lake Powell trip without even breathing hard.

Very strange all the conflicting reports from owners. I'm going on my second week with my lift and 38" tires (second full tank of fuel) and I'm right at 13.5 MPG unloaded. I haven't pulled much in the way of weight on the open road but power hasn't been an issue for mine yet. I had to drag an old camper trailer down some sugar sand trails with no tires and it pulled it pretty effortlessly.

I have to say I'm very pleased with our 550. It just turned over 4000, and has picked up another MPG. It was getting 6.8 MPG. The mileage does suck, but with the emissions equipment, you have to give up efficiency or power. Our truck pulls every day with a minimum of 8000 lb load, 24,000 sometimes. That's asking a lot from a light duty truck, but it handles it very well. We can pull hills with our heavier equipment and never drop below 60mph.

Consider yourself extremely lucky, I have never seen a "13" on my mpg's even before any modifications. 12.5 with no mods is the best I have seen, running empty now even with all the mods on the highway is around 12.

Perhaps, living at 7000 feet in elevation is part of my issue.

So far, direct from ford, anywhere from 6 to 16 is the norm. Now, just to give you something to think about, our car hauler (08 f350, a/t) pulling up to 30k with one driver, 5.5 mpg, another driver, 9 mpg. The "econo" driver, says the truck is a perfect 68 mph truck, anything faster, it eats fuel. The other driver, drives it hard, and constantly gripes about the fuel. Before condemning it completely, experiment with load and speed, and see how you do. On another note, I have had the valve covers off one looking for fuel line leaks on the injectors. At 24,000 psi, it doesn't take much of a leak to ruin fuel mileage. Just keep an eye on possible oil dilution issues.

Well I talked to the salesman I bought the truck from two weeks ago and he asked my mileage and said mine was about average. With no load he had a few up as high as 18MPG and a few that do more stop and go at 10MPG.
