Major problem with hesitation/bucking..

After towing/highway driving for 30-45 minutes, and downshifting to a lower gear, I'm getting hesitation/bucking for 3-4 seconds before the truck accelerates. The truck also does it without any load, after driving for a while.. It only occurs on downshift, when power is demanded. It doesn't do it around town, and you MUST drive at a constant speed for at least 30 minutes for it to start happening.. Once the truck hesitates.. it usually won't do it again for a few miles.. In other words.. if it hesitates.. and goes to the next gear.. If I immediately make it downshift again, it won't hesitate as badly, or sometimes not at all.

The truck is has a build date of 2/07, and it is a 4 door, 4x4 lariat with torqueshift auto. There are no trouble codes, and the truck has the 07S49 recall done.

Not sure what to do.. Ford won't do anything since they can't get it to reproduce the problem. I think it's something fuel related.. boost pressure falls off when the problem occurs.. Trans temps are fine, and I don't think it's the converter.

Any ideas? It sucks to pay 50K for a truck and not get any support from Ford..

Travis

Here's a pic of my rig..

Other than the hesitation issue.. this truck pulls the SH*T out of my Donzi.. And it's quiet/comfortable too..

Thanks for the welcome.. I picked the truck up with just shy of 10K miles on it.. for 42,500. It stickered out for 53 and some change brand new. It's got every option except for the tailgate step..

The boat is a 03 Donzi 26zf (28ft with twin 225 Optimax's) with 180 hours. The boat is in like-new condition, and I talked the guy down to 45K, from the 60K figure he was asking for originally.

Hopefully it was just some bad diesel.. it was pretty nerve wracking towing this thing back to Louisiana from Fort Lauderdale, and having it act up at 2 in the morning, out in the middle of nowhere.

Man that is a sweet setup. I can't help you out with the problem but I am sure some one will be here shortly with some kind of answer.

Sounds like the injector issue they had. My truck had them replaced before I could pick it up but I think your build date was before the engines that had the issues.

Is this the issue where the injectors were wired backwards? Or, is this something else?

Oh well.. I'm towing my boat about 600 miles round-trip this weekend, so I'll see if it's still going to act up or not.
