Water Separator Leak
Hi, first post here. I checked the previous threads and didn't see any answers to this one. Have an '08 F-250 6.4L with 65K miles and the water separator started leaking fuel all of the sudden, at about 1 drip/ 10 seconds. At first I thought it was the valve itself, but it appears that the gasket may be the problem. Anyone have any thoughts on why it started and tips for replacing the gasket and valve assembly? I bought the two from Ford today for about $90 and am going to have a crack at it tomorrow. Thanks much!

the seperator cover comes right out with 3 screws. be careful tightening them up again after installing the new one. the threads in the housing are obviously aluminum and very easy to strip out, just snug the screws
while you're in there it might be a good idea to spray out any built up gunk laying in the bottom of your seperator. if you take off your cap and filter you should be able to get a brake clean nozzle up in there and clean it all out well |
