EGR Replacement
I am throwing a P1335 so I spent about an hour searching the forums for posts on any difficulties to expect when replacing the EGR valve on my 08 with much luck. So any help would be appreciated?
Thanks |

If your truck is stock, should be covered under 100,000 mile warranty.

They are a pain in *ss. Ford has a special tool that doesn't work. The best way I found is to remove the whole air horn-soke the inside of the horn with solvent over night-remove three torx bolts-use a air hammer to drive the valve out from the inside. You may need to heat the horn alittle also.

I will take it even a step further and outright replace the whole housing as well as the valve. Like already posted above, even with the updated version of the puller, it will not remove the valve without damage to either valve, tool or housing.

Thanks for the input, I think I am going to get the horn (elbo) before I try to pull the valve. That way I can assemble the new horn and valve and install. The new EGR valve does not have ports for the coolant. Do you just use a union and bypass the EGR?

I believe the new valve comes with instructions that illustrates how much of the hose to cut off and re-install to the top vertical EGR cooler port.
