HEAT PROBLEM COMES AND GO'S

2008 f350 good heat one min ice cold the next ford thinks its the head gasket but we don every test there is and its good now i think it the heater ??? truck temp is good ....ill be driving and the heater will go ice cold ????? my dash switchs are just the turn nob type any help would b good thanks

It was head gaskets but every test said they were good so I was doing studs anyway and when they were done the heat was good
