Need some help

I just installed a dpf delete and superchips tuner on a 08 f250 for a buddy of mine. Had some problems with the tuner at first, but after some online updating everything loaded.

On the way to take the truck back to my buddy, it looses power on the interstate and smokes like crazy. Limped to next exit and tried other tunes, same issue. I then put the truck back to stock and same problem. I pulled the codes and got p042e which is egr stuck open, p0404 egr circulation, and p2452 dpf press. sensor which i assume is because the dpf is gone and its on stock tuning.

What are the chances of the egr valve going out 10 miles after a dpf delete?

which superchips was it? the race version? and why would he choose a superchips over something like a H&S XRT Pro handheld tuner?

I tried to talk him into a better tuner but no luck. Yes, the black racing version.

The truck starts and idles fine but as little or no acceleration, smokes, and surges. It does this in all tunes including STOCK. The truck ran great the first 10 miles.

the DPF delete pipe is with bungs correct? i would put everything back to stock and put the DPF back on and see if that fixes it....

Yes, it has the bungs.

The truck now sits in a parking lot at the local community college because I didn't know if it would make it home. If it's just the egr valve i can swap it out where it is tomorrow, assuming the local Ford house has one in stock. I really hate to get it towed back to my house and re-install dpf and it still need an egr valve.

I went back to the truck and took the cover off of the egr valve and closed it with a screw driver. I left the valve unplugged and the truck seems to run fine, but has the CEL on. Will it hurt anything to drive the truck like this until the owner desides if he wants an egr delete, or just replace the valve?
