looking to get into a 250
i'm looking at possibly getting into an 08-09 6.4. i have been reading and listening to others about possible problems. head gasket, radiator, poor mpg, turbo's @ 10ok etc. i'm looking to get somehting under 50k miles in a crew cab 4x4. just want to hear some more things that i should be aware of. i just read about production dates, good info. i'm going to lift it and run it on 37's, haul a 2 place sled trailer or run a sled deck with 2 sleds on the back. not going to be my daily driver as soon as my wife gets a new car. my job has me driving about 25-35k a year. my current lifted titan is my dd, but my next truck will not be. i'm looking at all 3 manufacturers before i buy.

I too have been shopping 6.4s and doing a ton of reading over the past few weeks. The very obvious downfall is all the emissions crap like the dpf exhuast. The regeneration cycles put fuel in the oil which eventually leads to problems. About the mosy serious problem I've read about that's pretty scary is that a few people have had injectors hang open and cause alot of damage. Some of the most important things to do to keep these trucks going is following the proper intervals on oil, oil filter, and fuel filter changes. Despite all the problems on the net, there are still thousands of these truck with little to no problems on the road everyday and I still intend to get one. Tons of good info on this site, just search back into older posts and just about every question can be answered.
