whistle with boost ..

it starts around 14lbs some times it goes away with a little more boost, some times it doesnt come on till about 20lbs. i assume i have a small leak on the IC pipes or the cooler. any ideas where to look first. or if i can presser test the intake system with it still on the truck...i just saw the other post about a whistle under boosted conditions. mine isnt really loud and it comes and goes with depending on how much boost its making.

im thinking its the IC pipes. i havnt had time to check it out yet =\...power and boost seem are were they should be..im seeing 32lbs max. the leak must be just big enough to make noise...egts are not noticeably higher WOT or cruising.

Im thinkin mines got a leak in one of the up pipes. When it sits and idles while warming up i can smell exhaust.

If you can smell exhaust in the cab of the truck its likely the donut gasket on one of the up-pipes. The cab will need lifted to replace the gasket.

Im pretty sure they can replace up-pipes without pulling the cab. Everything i have read says they can pull the transmission out and replace them.

how do they go about variating if it is the up pipes or not. if i have a hole in one of the cold pipes or even if it is just a boot i could take care of that my self

Im not sure on how the verify which it is. i am thinking about buying that leak tester from dieselsite though.
