Oil Leak

Started to notice a half dollar size patch of oil on the ground under the oil pan. I had a local mechanic shop take a look at it and was told that it was the oil cooler for the turbo. I'm going to take my truck to the dealership as I still have extended warranty remaining. Is this a difficult repair and what damage could I do driving the truck over the weekend? Where does this cooler draw its oil from? A separate oil reservoir? Is it easy to fill? I need to use the truck over the weekend but I don't want to cause any long term damage.

Hey bsudkamp - what did you find out? I have an 08, 6.4L and when changing the oil yesterday, I noticed some oil leaking on the frame member in front of the oil pan. Where did you see the oil leaking on your truck? Did Ford cover it?

beech i've seen both oil pump housings and front main seals leaking on the 6.4, also the cam sensor orings will wear out. as for the OP a leak in the valley can be a little harder to diagnose, cant really say where it's coming from without looking at it

i would think ford should cover any engine oil leaks under 5/100,000. i haven't had any instances where they didn't

haha seen that before too. not exactly in the same spot as the oil cooler housing

the tubes break right at the bracket and crankcase pressure pushes oil up and out

Beech, I was looking under my truck today and noticed an oil leak coming from what apears to be the crankshaft seal. How long did it take the dealership to replace it? I have an appointment on monday with the dealership. It really sucks because I only have 4500 miles on my truck.

The front main seal was replaced quickly. I asked the dealer to check some other items also when they had the truck, so I am not sure about just the seal, but I would say half a day.
