No the cat and DPF are gutted and they are huge the DPF could probably hold two footballs. So a straight pipe would have more back pressure, because I was told that the sensors might need a certain amount of back pressure to not go into regen mode, but is just a possibility...

Backpressure is created by restrictions and change of flow in the exhaust. I understand these are large chambers that are now empty but they are still going to contribute to back pressure along with the muffler. Straight smooth tube will outflow uneven tube of the same size. If large empty chambers outflowed straight smooth tubes, then top fuelers would have something like a coffee can on each zoomy. If backpressure is truly what triggers the regen, I dont undestand why it would read more backpressure now then before they were gutted though. If I were u, Id PM the guy on here that said he works in R&D of these things. |

I am sure that in a few years, there will be cats and DPF's off these trucks laying in every garage of every person who has a truck like this. It's just a matter of time before the exhaust companies figure out how to get around the engine managemnt issues. The key is to be patient and wait for them to do it.

my theory is that even tho the sensors are now fooled so they dont trigger a regeneration the computer is still set on a timer of some sort that will cause the truck to regenerate regardlessof the back preasure readings... posibly the trick to strait piping the 6.4 may actualy have to be done with custom engine tuning to keep the truck from going into regen period... perhaps some of the top tuners such a SCT will eventualy have this option available with their tuner? untill then major exhaust modifications on the 6.4 may be a no go no atter what any one tries thats just my theory. and i was going to suggest the battery disconect to reset the compooper but JNgreen beat me to it LOL
