EGT running too hot
My '08 F250 with the Evolution chip, set on towing, keeps setting off the warning that the EGT is too hot. Over the last few months I have noticed it getting worse. I am towing a 24' car hauler, but it does the same empty or loaded. In 88,000 miles of service, this spring I went 7,000 miles instead of 4000 mi. - 5000 mi. between oil changes and now my oil is really black. Did this cause some kind of damage to the turbo? Last week, every 3rd or 4th hill I came to, I had to let off the pedal. The alarm is set at 1250 deg.

1250 is too low for a high alarm on the 08'. My truck will hit 1350 sometimes during regen. I have mine set at 1400 degrees. I have heard of some tuned vehicles hitting 1700 as there alarm.

I agree with first ford. Also your DPF may be getting clogged, causing more backpressure. The oil is always black in a diesel, so don't worry about that.
