"I blew up my 2008 F350 on biodiesel" - AutoblogGreen

Story not verified, but some experts on this site may shed some light on the issue.

I found this story surfing the net and thought it was interesting but was unable to verify it. Some of the mechanics should know about this issue.

this is what i would if that were my truck, i would hand the Ford dealer the keys, tell them to F off for not covering it under warranty and they just lost a costumer for life. then go over to the Dodge or Chevy dealer to buy a vehicle from them.

I have not heard of this before. Ford does however clearly state what percentage biodesiel you can use in the new 6.4 desiel engine. Guess the person should have read the owners manual or at least looked at the DVD you get with your 08 Super Duty. It is hard to blame the manufacturer for an engine failure when they clearly state what not to use for fuel. The same types of issues will probably surface when all the aftermarket items start to be put on these vehicles although Ford has clearly stated any aftermarket additions will void the warranty.

Chevy and Dodge also state B5 as the maximum amount of crap to run in your engine.

I'm not sure if it's related but I do know there is a TSB on about 3300 6.4L's built between certain dates. Apparently during testing of the engine by the engine builder (Navistar/International) they reversed the polarity on 3 injectors (1, 5, 7) and those injectors may fail. Some people had complained about rough driving, studdering, etc... Ford identified the vehicles and any of them unsold and still on the lot where put on hold till new injectors came and in were replaced. This is why my truck is still sitting at the dealer and not in my driveway. I don't know if this is also part of the flaming tail pipe trucks as well due to leaking injectors.

This article was updated. Turned out it was not the biodiesel's fault. Ford put some bogus injectors in some of the first 6.4's, and they blew up. Biodiesel is a-ok.

Actually Dodge allows up to B20 or 20%. There the only engine Manuf that allows this much and covers it under warrenty. Chevy and Ford are all B5.

Soooo......lets say your an electritian for a living....

You do the electrical in my house...then i switch to solor power...pump 220 into a 110 system and the house burns down.....is that the electritians fault or the customers for putting something into the system that was SPECIFICALLY STATED TO BE UNSAFE FOR IT

That is totally untrue, and bio can actualy cause injector failures in the 6.4!! Ford specifically states B-5 or less bio. This isnt your old school diesel...and flat out....you dont want to push the envelope with this motor very much. The way the motor is designed...just using the wrong oil in extreme cold can cause catastrophic failure. Is that fords fault?? No...it isnt...if you cant read the owners manual then you shouldnt own the truck.
