It might also mean this is a recent problem. My oil level was fine until about 4k (guessing) and about 1k more miles I have an overfull issue. I used to check my regularly but haven't until recently hence the 1k lapse. It makes me think it is something mechanical (leaky injector, fuel line, or pump) issue because the problem is more recent. Unless the regen process is going screwey. JMHO I would like to think it is regen because then the dpf delete would solve the problem.

I have driven it for two days now and no change, I'm wondering if the stick is the correct one or maybe the dealer overfilled it both times?
I wouldn't base anything on the wacky dipstick unless you can verify that it is climbing. Sounds to me like yours is OK. Anyway an oil sample analysis is the only way to be sure.

Hmm. I just changed my oil myself for the first time (dealer only charges $59). I went 10,000 miles. My oil seamed very thin, and I needed more pans than normal but I didn't think much of it till I read this. I just ordered my sample kit from Blackstone. I also noticed an oil leak. Would having too much oil/fuel cause a leak? I will take it to the dealer this week.

Just got my '08 out of the shop yesterday, it was an inch over-full and had lost it's low-end power and getting 4mpg pulling. They found 2 bad injectors leaking, #1 and #3. Power seems better, but I have not pulled with it yet. I have a Buddy who is a master diesel tech and had one the other day with 6 extra quarts in it. I don't think he is real impressed with this motor, I know mine has been nothing but trouble, no power, and terrible pulling milage with lots of down time. I would love to do a DPF delete but I never know when something else is going to go and need warranty work! If I did a DPF delete, then put everything back to stock to take it back to dealer for work would they know I had messed with it?????? I had an issue once before with a Dr. Performance module on a 6.0 and Ford knew I had done something. Just wondering if I would get caught if everything was back to stock when I took it back to dealer????

I think the best thing for you guys with this problem is to go down to you neighborhood Chevy/GMC dealer and get yourself a new duramax and never look back. Sorry guys, but since the stop of the 7.3l, ford diesels are no good.
