now you need a mechanic to check your oil level, lol. if you want to monitor your level check it the same each time and on level ground. if i had a couple of quarts of fuel in my oil i would be worried.

As of 02/03/08 i was informed that the engineers were not sure what to do with this problem, they are sure it is one but dont want to come right out to say it is till they have a cure for the problem....the best way to argue the point of what is full on the dipstick is to empty the pan and put back in what your FORD OWNERS MANUAL RECOMMENDS and where that level lands is full and you have proof...because your owners manual was written by the engineers that built (created) the motor, not a bunch of idiots trying to save money at the expense of the life of your truck....just remember that the lemon law in texas is 5 trips for the same incurable problem and they have to buy back the truck....so keep taking it back ...at some point around the 3rd to 4th trip I bet they get alot more concerned with your problem...good luck hope this helps...by the way the motor is suppose to burn oil not make oil ...your owners manual says if you have more than recomended oil level (15qts) you need to TAKE IT TO A TECHNICIAN..DONT LET THEM bs YOU YOUR OWNERS MANUAL SAYS 15 QTS IS FULL............

The lemon law is great for you Americans. Here in Canada I guess we are not smart enough to have such a law. I just keep getting told that there are no codes so there is nothing they can do.

Canada or not you still have a owners manual that says if it is overfull take it to a technician...just remember over full is over 15 qts...keep taking it to them...they will get tired of seeing you and fix the problem..from whati understand it is either diesel leaking by the injector ..leaking fuel rail or line or a leaking hi pressure pump...see if you can talk them into checking that stuff out...or have them get in touch with the service group in andrews texas...they are repairing a truck with the same problem right now....hope this helps..just remember that the owners manual is to tell you what is right or wrong with the truck..so read up on what it says and then force them to take care of business...

Oil was drained to get a sample. For what two dealerships say is acceptable there was 17 to 18 litres of oil in the pan. Manual says 14 litres. Oil sample has been sent away and hope to hear as early as tomorrow. The lab it was sent ot says 5% dilution is a CRITICAL SITUATION
Called Esso ( Imperial Oil ) tech line and asked what thier 10w30 CJ4 oil specs are as far as fuel dilution as this is what the dealership is putting in my truck. I was told from Esso that 2.5% is maximum. After that it seriously affects the additives and viscosity of the oil.
Just waiting for the analysis to start to really rock the boat.

DO NOT kid yourself, or let them kid you, Fuel dilution to this extent is NOT good, nor should be considered normal, even in an engine with 2.5 times the displacement. Emissions equip. does not directly cause this either. As per previous post, no-one with diesel experience would keep this engine in service. Large diesel enigines will commonly run 10,000 miles and have the oil level drop 1-2 quarts, which is upper end lubrication to some extent. I would shut down any engine immediately that is making oil, be it CAT. Cummins, Detroit Diesel, GM or the IH engine in the pu.

I had the same high level of oil problem and they ended up changing the high pressure fuel pump. Seems to have solved the problem.

They told me it was normal. But I have been involved with heavy equipment for 35 years and told they could shove that idea. I told them to do an oil sample and they said it wouldn't show anything. I said we do oil sample on all our equipment every oil change so don't BS me. They change the oil and marked the dip stick and I drove it for 1000k and took it back and the level was up so they ordered the new pump.

My shop changed my oil again this week with 4300 miles on the change (11800 total on the truck). Pulled the plug and drained into a 4 gallon pan. The mechanic had a phone call and when he returned, the oil had run over the bucket and onto the floor. We had already pulled a sample as it had this problem with the previous oil change. The oil ran and looked like water, the drips caused big ripples across the bucket. The lab report again shows 4% fuel dilution, high iron and high aluminum. The local dealer (totally worthless) says that there is nothing they can do; that it is "within Ford tolerances". Leaving it with the dealer in Phoenix where I bought it this next week while I am out of town on business to have it looked at. The service manager was a diesel wrench for years and agrees that ANY fuel in the oil is a bad thing.

LOVE the truck, absolutely hate the 6.4 Power Stroke.
