2008 powerstroke
Just bought a 2008 F350 it has 44,000 miles and today I learned that my radiator is shot, is this a common occurance? Is there a better solution than a stock replacement?

There's no recall on radiators. There is a TSB regarding radiator replacement. There is some very specific criteria regarding the replacement, and if it is or not covered under warranty. Past 3/36, the thermostats need to have failed to warrant a replacement radiator on Ford's dime.
There's something on this site about a replacement rad, (aftermarket) and the pricing is roughly the same as the factory replacement. It says on the website for the radiator that the tanks AND the core are aluminum, but the picture in the website does not reflect a radiator with aluminum tanks. I would be interested to see if it's fully welded together, or if the tanks are clamped on, or what. If it's a fully welded piece, it seems that it would be a pretty good investment. |
