loud whistling noise under load and boosting
I checked with a local mechanic today and hes discovered a crack in the pipe connecting the exhaust manifold to the turbo, the pipe itself is approx. 2-2.5" in diameter. Does anyone know what the part number is soes that I can quote it to my ford dealer to see if it is under warranty?

I don't know the part number off hand, but it sounds like the up-pipe. Which side is it?

You mentioned a whisteling noise. Any chance this sounds like an exhaust leak type sound, when under load? I have this and am trying to track it down...

We found the leak to be coming from the up pipe on the passanger side at the rear of the motor which is impossible to get to, I can see that the expansion joint is covered with soot, I also found out that this part is covered under warranty thank god, wish me luck!

Can you smell exhaust in the cab? I had a loud whisteling noise and it turned out to be a hole in the charge air cooler. Hopefully you find it because if yours sound's like mine, it's annoying as crap.

I've checked the up pipes and don't see any soot anywhere. I've also checked the boots and don't see any holes.
I read somewhere else that the cab has to be lifted or the tranny dropped to change the up pipes. |

I don't understand how it is easier to remove the cab than to remove the trans and change it that way.

ya ford ended up pulling the transmition instead of yanking the cab off, but they covered it all and with little hassle

wonder why ford went that route? i mean, pullin the cab just to get to somthin minor seems like a hassle...does any one know how the 6.7 is? do you have to pull the motor to get to the injectors???
