Fuel Flow

I recently had both my fuel pump (first trip to Ford service) and fuel sending unit (second trip to Ford service) replaced. The symptons were the truck would start then die right away and the wrench light comes on on the dash. Both times the fuel computer indicated less then 40 miles and the guage showed about 1/8th a tank left. I had the same issue yesterday but was able to keep the truck running long enough to get it filled with diesel. Does anyone have any idea on what's causing this? I have ~43K miles.
