ISSUES WITHT THE 6.4L

I WAS WONDERING IF YOU GUYS COULD GIVE ME A QUICK LISTIMG OF SOME OF THE ISSUES THAT THE 6.4 HAS HAD BECAUSE I AM DECIDEING IF I WANT TO BUY AN 08 F250 REG CAB LONG BED 4X4 WITH 54K MILES OR IF I WANT TO BUY A 06 F350 WITHT THE 6.0 AND I KNOW WHAT WHAT THE 6.0 ISSUES GENERALLY ARE I WOULD PREFER TO HAVE ANOTHER 7.3L BUT THERE TO EXPENSIVE TO KEEP UP WITH THE PMR RODS AND TRANS ISSUES BECAUSE I USE MY TRUCK ATLEAST 4 TIMES A WEEKAND PULL MY TRAILER SO I WANT SOMETHING TO BE RELIABLE AND IF THE 6.4LISNT TOO BAD I AM GOING TO PURCHASE ONE THANKS FOR HE READ AND IF OYU COULD JUST TELL ME A FEW OF THE ISSUES I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT

GOT SCREWED ON AFTER 2 WEEKS OF HAVING THE TRUCK AND SWITCHING EVERYTHING OVER :
2002 ford f350 srw crew cab long bed 4x4
4 in magnaflow exhaust to 5 in tip
afe stage 1 intake
50% tint in front
30% in rear
many mods to come

10,800 HPFP wiring harness
10,945 Fuel Sending Unit
11,200 2 alternators
17,456 Replace entire fuel system(found metal shavings in fuel tank and secondary fuel filter. Truck was in the shop two weeks. Ford sent field engineer because after dealer replaced injector orings and got it running it didnt start after sitting overnight. Ford said replace entire fuel system. HPFP, all injectors, fuel rails, HFCM.)
17,456 Replace pass rear window motor and actuator

Coolant issues(sometimes above cold fill marks, sometimes in between, sometimes, low)

Grinding noise in left front wheel area(haven't taken it in yet)

But this is just my truck. Others have no issues. I got lucky!! Love the truck otherwise, rides great and with the KR leather it smells great too.

2010 F-350 -- 700 miles, I have a slight oil leak coming from the front of the motor. Exact location is unknown.

Sync system fails when used with iPhone to play music

1750 miles, oil leak still present. Location still unknown. I am at the ford dealer waiting to find out as I type this. I'll update later.

So apparently I have a leaking bedplate. The service writer told me they had to order parts, and that will take a week to get them in. Then a week to perform the repair. They have to remove the cab, and pull the engine and transmission. Then they have to separate the two to be able to get the bedplate off and replaced. Needless to say I am not happy about this. They are paying for a rental so I'm good to go on that part. What they don't know is that they will be giving me a truck not a car for a rental.

WELL IM GLAD TO HEAR ATLEAST THEY FOUND THE OIL LEAK FOR YOU BUT HEY AS LONG AS THERE IS NO REAL BIG MONEY OUT OF YOUR POCKET THAT HAS TI BE A GOOD THING

Less than 7,000 miles on a '09. EGR coolers are being replaced? Leaking. It is in the shop, should be out today.

Sorry to hear that Rob, and you just got the thing too I just hope they do a good job for you. That is definitely a huge repair.

Yeah, They are taking care of me. I just wish it never started to leak. To thte OP, i dont regret buying this truck, things happen that are beyond our control. You would be ok to buy a 6.4, or a 6.0, i have owned both and both are great trucks. Let us know what you decide on!

i am going tomorrow to look at it looks like a nice truck online but i still have to see it in person its a reg cab 4x4 08 with 50k miles and priced at 26998 im gonna try to get it alittle lower though

IMHO, the 6.4 is a much nicer truck than the 6.0. My 6.4 has 43k miles and no real issues to date. Sorry to hear that some of the newer trucks are having issues. Wanna buy my 08 6.4 Lariat? I'm ordering a 6.7 today.
