6.4 problems

A guy here in lawton contacted me via email and said is truck is running poorly.

This is the description of the problem copy and pasted from my email

its missing and when I give it fuel it blows a huge cloud of grey smoke I think its ethier injector push rod or valve. I threw a code for imbalance for cylinder 3 and a code for fuel pressure too low to crank. Just replaced a turbo that went out and when it went out it over reved. Just hoping there's not a whole n the piston may have to run a compression test

Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

Any ideas

Ryan, it's possible no one knows what to tell him, and doesn't want to
steer him wrong.

If you take off the valve cover, remove the #3 injector, make sure the valves are in the closed position and blow shop air in the injector hole, you can listen for air escaping from the intake or exhaust. That is a good place to start. It lets you know if you have valve problems in that cylinder. You can also remove the rockers on that cylinder to see if you have bent pushrods. I would have answered sooner, but I didn't want to chance wasting your time.

I am by far NOT a diesel mechanic or really know what I'm doing under the hood of my 6.4. I was driving, it lost power, blew all kinds of blue/white/gray smoke and would only accelerate when I was barely touching the throttle. I took it in and was told probably EGR valve and/or intercooler. Today they told me they think the valve may have caused the problem but they're not entirely sure. It did not throw any codes. They re-flashed it and I guess I'll try again. I was thinking injectors, but like I said, I'm not a mechanic. I hope it gives you an idea.

I am not trying to be a dink, but if you are asking on a public internet forum for help with this, perhaps it's a little over your head, and you should pass it along.

You can get killed by CR fuel pressures.

Also, if you do not have a Ford IDS scan tool, you already have one strike against you, since this tool was DESIGNED to be used on this engine.

Also, none of the fuel lines are supposed to be re-used, as well you need a special tool to unplug the fuel injector electrical connector.
