crop dusting

lol.. its really not funny .. my truck has been doing this for a few months now . seems to be getting worse today on the way home from work it started to blow a $hit load of white smoke cars behind me hitting there brakes and i covered the whole 2 lane road for an easy mile.. then it stops as far as i know it wasnt in regen and right before it happens the truck seems to diesel / ping on the louder side .. sounds like a 7.3.. has anyone else seen or had this issue

Sounds like you're going into regen with a cracked DPF. If you're still under warranty, take it to the dealer.

This has happened to my truck but it hasn't happened in like 6 months. I thought that the head gasket blew. But it only lasted for like 30 seconds but who knows.

Sounds like a regen to me too. That's how my truck sounds when it goes into active regen. It's sounds like a 7.3., but not nearly as loud. Is it possible that the truck is in a passive regen and not going into a full regen that would cause the message to come on?

Whats the weather been like where you're at? Does it only happen after a decent distance of cruising?

Mine did it yesterday. Was pulling a small trailer down a long grade while in regen. When I stepped on the accelerator, HUGE puff of white smoke. Continued to smoke whenever I accelerated for the next few minutes, then stopped. Truck has 29K miles and never done it before. Bone stock.
