P042E EGR Stuck Open
After making a short drive today (less than 15 miles) I came out of the store to start my truck. It idles fine, and revs fine, but when put into drive it starts bucking and hesitating, while blowing black smoke. Almost no throttle response at all except when in park. I have a SCT tuner. When downloading program it asks if I have an EGR modification. I always answer no. If I answer yes will this in someway bypass my EGR stuck open problem? Do I need to replace he EGR valve? Should I put plates in to block off EGR? How do I do this? I had to leave truck in a parking lot, please help. Thank You Keith

If you answer that you have EGR modifications, it just will not operate the EGR. I've been told that you can take off the EGR top cover plate and manually close the valve, but I've never done it. I would install plates or EGR delete kit and tell the SCT to kill the EGR. Let us know if we can help with any parts.
