6.4 ran on gasoline
Gasoline added to 6.4. tank drained but extremely hard (will not) restart.
Any experience with this or possible suggestions? any internal safety shutdown that's detects gas vs. diesel? |

it wont run long on gas..as soon as the bad fuel gets to the motor it shuts down. before changing the filters, drain the tank and refill. then go to the motor and take the cover and filter out change the filter on the frame, and go back to the filter on the motor. with the filter out and the key on it will you will be able to flush the lines. once you get the lines clean put the filter back in, then leave the key on. it will self bleed. might have to cycle the key a few times but she will come back to life

go to powerstrokehelp's Youtube channel and watch his 3 videos comparing a 7.3, a 6.0, and a 6.4. One of those videos has a look at what happens when you run gas in a 6.4l He's got 2 handfuls of metal that came out of the high pressure fuel pump. Hopefully it shut down before it made it to the pump.

I have a horrible feeling about getting gasoline in a High Pressure Fuel Pump. I read this earlier, and I was thinking that it might do some damage, and alas the powerstrokehelp dude shows it...
YouTube - 7 3 vs 6 0 vs 6 4 POWERSTROKE ENGINES 2 OF 4 I don't normally like everything he says, but in this case, I guess the evidence speaks for it's self.. |
